Dongpo Fm
Type Locality and Naming
West Henan. Type section of Dongpo Formation is in Luoquan Village, Mangchuan, Ruzhou, Henan province (E112°45′00″; N34°01′00″), re-measured and named by Guan Baode and others in 1988. This formation was originally the upper part of the Luoquan Formation. And GUAN Baode et al. separated it out in 1980 and established a new formation.

Synonym: (东坡组), Shijiagou Fm (时家沟组), Yangsizhuang Fm (杨寺庄组)
Lithology and Thickness
Lower part is composed of lenticular calcareous quartzose sandstone, intercalated with pebbly shale and psepholite (=gritstone to conglomerate). Middle to Upper part is shale intercalated with glauconitic sandstone etc. The total thickness is 94 m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
The lowermost part, a bed of brick red silty shale, is conformable onto the underlying Luoquan Fm
Upper contact
The top, a bed of grayish green shale, disconformably underlies the lower Cambrian Xinji Fm
Regional extent
West Henan. The area of the Dongpo Fm is smaller than that of the underlying Luoquan Formation and is mainly in the south of Lingbao, Lushan and Queshan areas, Henan Province.
